Hi everyone!  Not everyone gets a chance to visit the NER offices in Shrewsbury, MA. Here are some highlights and some little known facts about this historical spot!

The campus where the NN/LM NER offices are located was once known as the Worcester Foundation for Biomedical Research. This campus is best known as the site of the development of the birth control pill.   The NAHSL board meets in the Chang building, named for M C Chang – one of the reproductive biologists involved in the project. (By the way, Dr Chang met his wife in the Yale library!)

The building is also home to the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society founded by Jon Kabat-Zinn. No wonder the network folks are always so cool and calm!  Don Morton, former librarian at the UMass Medical School, remembers Jon Kabat-Zinn using the library’s Rare Book Room for his stress reduction classes.

What an awesome place this is! What a funky old building!

I hope you’ll have a chance to visit the NN/LM-NER soon and see it for yourself!
