Paul Harris, PhD It’s an honor to welcome Paul Harris, PhD of Vanderbilt University to NAHSL 2014! Dr Harris is best known for his development of REDCap – the research data collection and management platform used world-wide. He also leads the research subject recruitment program Research Match.

I had the good fortune to meet Dr Harris at the NLM Informatics fellowship program in May 2013. He presented an excellent overview of the complexities of data collection and the rigor required in managing that data. I instantly understood how library science skills could be put to good use in the dire need to wrangle research data!

If you are not yet involved in supporting research at your institution, you will be inspired by Dr Harris’s presentation to find a way to participate. If you are already supporting research, you will be impressed by the potential in this emerging field.
