On October 29th, Congress passed the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2015. According to the AAMC, the act will, “fully fund national priorities such as medical research supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), health services research supported by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ), and physician training through the Children’s Hospitals Graduate Medical Education program and the Title VII health professions programs.” it was not all good news, however, as Congress extended the 2% Medicare sequestration cut in provider payments for an additional year, through FY 2025. The AAMC also expressed concern about a new change to reimbursement for outpatient hospitals.
